Medjool was written up recently on a list of top views in the US. I was surprised, because I didn’t think it was terribly picturesque, but it’s a great spot for drinks and food. The day I was there, it was a bit windy and cold; so we didn’t stay long. We were actually meeting friends at Cha, Cha, Cha, but I’m definitely going back soon. It looks promising and on a nicer day, it would be a great spot to hang out and enjoy some lively conversation and the rooftop views toward downtown.

Foreign Cinema is definitely quirky. It’s a restaurant that shows movies while customers dine. The “theater” is actually outside on the patio; so it needs to be dark outside to see the film. And, since San Francisco can be cool in the evenings, take a jacket, just in case the summer fog rolls in.
Foreign Cinema is more of a novelty than anything, because you can’t really see and hear the whole film very well. It’s more about dining than movie-going. It IS, however, worth checking out. If you have a group, you can ask for the projection room, which is fun. It’s upstairs and you’ll actually be sitting IN the room where the projector is … showing the movie of the day.
It’s in the Mission District and close to 2 other fascinating places I like; so it’s definitely worth the trip to that neighborhood. Take Bart from Downtown and get off on 24th. It’s an easy (and colorful) stroll to the restaurant.
