This little spot is worth a little trek from the Embarcadero Center Cinema (a GREAT little art film theater), across the pedestrian bridge over Battery Street; then walk down the stairs and enjoy the water and then you’ll come to this little park between to buildings. Explore and take photos.

This is a great trip and not as difficult as it might sound. You can rent bikes all over the city, but Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals has a shop at Pier 39. Take any street car (The F Line) down Market Street toward the Ferry Building, and it’ll take you right to Pier 39. Rent the bikes there and they’ll give you a map with directions over the bridge and to Sausalito, a quaint little town with a lot of over-priced shops filled with things you don’t need. There is a burger place that’s always got a line out the door. They’re good and worth the wait. Then take a ferry back to drop off your bike and it’s a nice half day trip. You can also rent bikes near Folsom and 4th and ride all the way down the Embarcadero, which is nice too, but takes a little longer. You be the judge.

Walking around the city late at night is fun and generally very safe in most of the city. Walking several blocks on either side of Market Street from Union Square to the Embarcadero is also safe. There are many, many other safe areas, but this is one of the most interesting. The Tenderloin can get scary most any time of the day, but that leaves a lot of room for moving around and checking out how great the lighting is at night. I have many more; so stay tuned.
