     Romantic Belden Place
Belden Place is a spot tourists don’t often find.   It’s a short four block walk from Market and 4th (Old Navy, Virgin, Apple, Ross intersection). Belden Place is a one-block alley between Kearny, Montgomery, Bush and Pine. There are 8 restaurants there:  Sam’s Grill (American and Seafood), Cafe Tiramisu (Northern Italian), Cafe Bastille (French Bistro), Plouf (French Seafood), Brindisi (Italian Seafood), B44 (Spanish), and two newcomers - Voda (cocktails) and Taverna (Mediterranean). The atmosphere is the best - light, festive and feels like a back street in Paris. And when the weather is warm, dining at an outside table beneath the stars is a true delight. While the food at these restaurants isn’t the best in the city, all eight restaurants are darned good. That said, I eat there regularly. It’s difficult to decide which to choose; so I rotate. The prices aren’t bad either, BTW. I can’t think of a better atmosphere in the city. For more info about each restaurant, click on the link here for Belden Place.

Like an Alleyway in Paris Belden Place

Like an Alleyway in Paris Belden Place

The Restaurants of Belden Place are all great for one reason or another. The best part of them all, is clearly the ambiance. When the sun comes out on a weekday, the place explodes with local business people who wish they didn’t have to go back to the office. Warm evenings are also traditionally packed, but don’t let that scare you away. Some of the restaurants are more popular than others, but take a chance and try any one of them. I’ve never been disappointed. We’ve heard that Sharon Stone eats at Brindisi. Rumor has it that Cafe Bastille and Plouf share the same kitchen … but not the same prices. The mussels are really good at both. The photo of the chef is from Tiramisu, who was kind enough to let me snap a quick shot between his final inspection of dinners as they left his realm. He seems like a nice guy. Enjoy!
