Where’s the bar? See the brown doors on the street level, next to the white building? That’s where 83 Proof, a new bar is opening, November 1st (2007). Doesn’t look like much now, but hold on. The name comes from the address 83 First Street and is only a few steps from Market Street, about half way between Market and the Transbay Terminal. I’ve seen the inside, while under construction; so I’m not sure exactly what it will look like when it’s finished, but it looks very promising. Chris (left) and Marc (right) have worked together for years at Lulu’s Restaurant on Folsom Street and make a great team. Chris and investor/partner, Skye (not shown) will own the new bar together. I’m told it was originally a bar that has been closed for years (anyone know the name?). The location is great - right in the middle of the lively Transbay Terminal neighborhood. Town Hall, Salt House, Roys are a few of the stars only a block away, all in different directions, but still close by. This area is where 2 of the tallest buildings in the city are planned; so stay tuned. Both Chris and Marc are great bartenders and are always warm and and friendly with zero attitude. They love what they do and it shows. Drop by and say hi, and tell them Randy sent you. They know how to make sure their customers have a good time. Enjoy!
