BeforeChineseNewYear 720702 Twas the Night Before Chinese New Year
We were just driving around and got a glimpse of the preperations for the Chinese New Year celebration. This was taken in front of Macy’s on Union Square. The lighting was very supernatural as you can see.

     Luna Park or Anul Krap?

There are restaurants on every corner of San Francisco, and honestly, it’s difficult to find one that’s not good.

Friday night, we were headed out to a friend’s house near the Mission District for a cocktail party and got there too early; so we walked about their neighborhood for a while and stumbled onto this odd little restaurant - Luna Park on Valencia St.

We’d already eaten dinner, but after seeing the huge plates of food float by, decided we’ll be back. Entrees were in the $16ish range, but like I said, the portions looked really big. Braised short ribs and other comfort foods topped the list, but they also had some great looking salads too.

The name of the restaurant came from an old roller coaster that was supposedly at Coney Island. Little known (and stupid) Fact: If you’re inside the restaurant looking out through the front door, the sign reads “Anul Krap”, which some people call this restaurant.

Sometimes, the weather is not the best, but compared to other regions, it’s fairly mild. We don’t usually get any of the extremes - snow or blistering heat. June is notorious for cold, damp, foggy days and it’s fun to see tourists dressed in shorts and wearing San Francisco sweatshirts from Fisherman’s Wharf or Chinatown - don’t be one of those people, please. October is one of the best months to come to SF, but remember, it’s never usually warm all day long. The weather can change quickly; so dress in layers and don’t pretend like it’s Florida. The shot of the bay doesn’t really show how intense it was that day (February), but there were some trees that fell, as you can see. I stopped to shoot the BMW, and a guy walking his dog said it had been there for hours.
