More photos of Angel Island … you can get maps of the island usually as you get off the ferry boat. There’s also a snack bar, but don’t count on much in the way of great food. Remember, it’s a snack bar on an island owned by the government. Take your own goodies; so you’re not disappointed. Also, be sure to note the last ferry back to the mainland. There’s no bridge and you may have to spend the night or be shuttled back by the Coast Guard, which might not be a fun ride back … unless you like drama and don’t mind being embarrassed for missing the boat.
On the way both ways, you’ll probably get a clear view of Alcatraz … and a great view of the city too.
You could also plan to stop on Tiburon for some tasty Mexican food right at the ferry dock, or you could do that on another trip, depending on how much time you have.

Rent a bike at Bike and Roll, pack a minimal lunch … a bottle of wine, some cheese and bread, check out the ferry schedule at San Francisco Ferry Boats aka Blue & Gold Fleet and off you go for a day on Angel Island. Angel Island has bike trails that are fun and don’t really take all day, but take your time, expore and enjoy your picnic overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, where you may want to take another bike trip.
Neither of these trips are difficult and allow you to get some exercise and see some parts of SF that you wouldn’t have been able to see.
There’s more to Angel Island, but I don’t want to tell you everything here. You’ll want to see it all and expore on your own.

Philo Farnsworth had a lot to do with the invention of television, but didn’t do it on his own. His workshop was located here in San Francisco and is often an overlooked spot because there’s not much to see there. Here’s the plaque marking the site, but now it’s a building rented to a video production company.
