Have you ever wondered how fortune cookies are made? Now you can find out first hand, but if you take photos, pay the $1.00 they charge. It’ll be the best investment you can make. The Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory is fun, and the cookies are as fresh as you can get. They even have X-Rated Fortune Cookies, but most don’t make a lot of sense or they’re just plain stupid … but worth getting, just for fun at your next dinner party. The place is a little tricky to find, but if you look carefully, you’ll find it between four streets in Chinatown (details below). It’s worth the effort and it’s great to be able to have it still operating; so support it - buy cookies and have fun with the fortunes. (Save room for Dim Sum though somewhere in Chinatown though.)

    56 Ross Alley

Between: Jackson, Washington, Grant and Stockton

Look for Ross Alley, which runs between Jackson and Washington, the same direction as Grant and Stockton.

It’s a lot easier then it sounds. The first time I went there, I was with friends and a cousin from out of town and we were laughing hilariously trying to find it. Enjoy the process.

The Golden Gate Bridge is always a great walking or bike riding experience. If you’re driving, it all happens too quickly and you can’t take time to see the incredible view, let alone feel the strong winds that usually blow off the ocean. It’s very exhilerating to say the least. If you’re downtown and don’t feel like driving there, there are city buses that drop you off right at the gift shop, which is the entrance. Walkers are directed to one side and bicyclist to the other side.   Dress warmly, just in case. Check out the link here for details and a WEB CAM!!! Golden Gate Bridge Info and Web Cam

Before standing in line to take the Cable Car up Powell Street, first cross the street and take a quick look at the ceiling upstairs in the San Francisco Shopping Center (Westfield Mall). Enter via the East Entrance and make your way upstairs. This building used to be the Emporium Department Store and the original ceiling has been completely restored and kept intact as the focal point of the new addition to this mall, which is now the largest mall west+ of the Mississippi. It hardly seems possible because it’s so hidden and doesn’t look anything like a mall from the outside. I watched this new wing take shape over the years it took to restore and transform, and you can see in the photos below that it was probably a contractor’s nightmare, but what a beautiful piece of architecture … and well worth saving.
