     Ready for Tapas?

     Ready for Tapas?

Bocadillos is a great spot for a snack or a bunch of snacks. Sharing opens the door to even more unique tastes. Take Luke’s advice (at the bar) and he’ll turn you no to the treats you might accidentally skip over. He’ll try to encourage you to skip the “safe” items you’ll find on other menus, and he’s right. When it comes to wine, go for something new and stay in the Spanish spirit that created Bocadillos. OleĀ“.

Dotties True Blue Friend From High School
Dotties True Blue Friend From High School

It’s a small world. Friends and I were in the usual 40 minute wait to get into Dotties True Blue Cafe for Sunday a m a z i n g breakfast (if you haven’t eaten there, it’s worth the wait – homemade is the watch word … *really* homemade … even the toast and rolls). Well, the people behind us seemed like nice people and we started to chat. Well, it turns out that the Mom, Rhea (who looks nearly as young as her two daughters) is Kurt Abney’s (aka Dottie) best friend from High School. In the lower photo are the whole family – Rhea, her husband Peter, and their two daughters – Jessica(lower left), and Alicia (top left).

You never know who you’re going to meet in line at Dotties!

Fun Guys at McCormick and Kueletos
Ghirardelli Square is the fun end of Fisherman’s Wharf area (North of Pier 39). In the square is a great restaurant that started in Portland, OR, called McCormick and Schmick’s. This particular one includes the restaurant creater, Pat Kueleto, as a parther, hence the name – McCormick and Kueleto. The food is fresh, dependable and serves all tastes, from succulent seafood to juciy steaks … oh, and some of the best sour dough bread in the city.

If you’re not in the mood for a full-on sit-down meal, go to the bar area, which has one of the best views of any other bar anywhere in SF. The highlight is getting to meet Ovid and Chris (Sunday and Monday are the best days to catch this team.) Chris, the taller one has an interesting Web site you’ll want to check out: ArtsNotDead. Tell them Randy said HI and order an oyster shooter. Uh oh!
